Konings Hoeven Quadrupel
Brewer: Koningshoeven
Country: Netherlands
Style: Trappist Ale, Quadrupel
Molly picked this up at US Liquor. Wow. Wow.
Smells of sugar and sweet malt, alcohol, dark and fruity, a bit of yeast.
Taste is rich and powerful, yet very smooth. Lots of sweet malt, molasses, caramel, and lots of dark fruit like prunes and blackberries and raisins. Some earthy notes too that are probably coming from both the yeast and some hops. Alcohol is noticeable but not a problem. Very smooth, very tasty, very nice.
Mouthfeel is full bodied, very smooth and creamy. This is a damn fine beer, a slow drinker for sure. A new favorite.
